Musgrave Pencil Company
For more than 100 years, Musgrave Pencil Company has been dedicated to preserving the art of American pencil making. Founded in 1916 by James Raford "Colonel" Musgrave, the company began by producing Tennessee red cedar pencil slats before evolving into one of the longest-running pencil manufacturers in the United States. Today, Musgrave continues to manufacture high-quality wooden pencils from its historic facility in Shelbyville, Tennessee—known as "The Pencil City"—while honoring generations of craftsmanship and innovation.
Designed for artists, writers, students, professionals, and creative minds, Musgrave pencils combine premium materials, precision manufacturing, and timeless design. Whenever possible, the company sources components domestically and continues its commitment to producing dependable, beautifully crafted writing instruments that celebrate American manufacturing heritage and inspire creativity for generations to come.
