Introducing the Wild Cherry Blossom Japanese Bowl & Spoon Set by Hiroyuki Sugawara. Hiroyuki is a Japanese woodworker from Miyagi, Japan, who has been perfecting the delicate craft of woodworking for over twenty years.

About the Set

Each Bowl and Spoon are hand-carved from Wild Japanese Cherry Blossom and finished with a traditional Japanese lacquer.

Hiroyuki created the Soup Bowl with the idea of making it suitable for a variety of meals, not just soup. Thanks to it's lacquer paint finish, the exterior remains cool and easy to handle, even when filled with hot meals.

The Spoon was intentionally shaped to fit the mouth and is particularly thin and smooth, however very strong and durable thanks to the lacquer finish. It is very light and has a well-balanced angle, so it is perfect not only for soup, but also for risotto and bean dishes.

The bowls have a subtle gray-blue finish while the spoons are finished with a more traditional dark brown tone.

Lacquer is a natural paint made from refined sap from the lacquer tree, and is much safer than chemical paints. In addition, lacquer-finished vessels repel water and oil, are heat-resistant, and highly durable.
