My Favorite Things About Living In the USA

Hi! Lauren here. I wanted to get a little more personal today and share a bit about my perspective on life in the United States. For those who don’t know me, I was born and raised in Europe to an American mother and a Spanish father and only moved to the US when I was eighteen.

Having since spent the last seven years in this country, there are a lot of things I have come to appreciate about life in the United States versus growing up in Europe. While there's always room for improvement, the US has a lot of luxuries that we take for granted in our day-to-day lives. So, I thought I’d make a little list of the perks of living in the US, focusing on the positive.

  1. A Global Food Scene - The US is a melting pot of people from all over the world, and this is reflected in the cuisine. I'm a big foodie and love how I can get the best international dishes in a single city, from Japanese, to French, Peruvian, and more! I know that this may not be the case in smaller country towns, but generally speaking, the variety of international cuisine available in larger cities is like no other!
  1. People Are Nice - This one doesn't need much detail but people in the US are just friendly and nice! Some people may argue it’s “fake” but hey, it beats being rude. Especially here in Texas, Southern Hospitality is REAL!
  1. Easy Convenience - In the US you can get pretty much anything delivered to your house, saving time so you can focus on more important things! One of my favorite, game-changing convenience services that I use is Wild Fork. I can order organic and pasture raised, frozen meats that will arrive at my door within 48 hours. This has saved me so much time and money at the grocery store!
  1. So much NATURE! - The US has amazing national parks and so much nature and beauty to discover. Did you know that the US is actually one of seventeen megadiverse countries in the world, with an endless array of environments to explore, including beaches, mountains, swamps, forests, and deserts!
  1. Great Customer Service - Generally speaking, people in the US are organized, and work hard. This is something I think a lot of people take for granted. For example, I went to the Municipal Court the other day to get my marriage license and it was so fast and easy, and the people working at the court were so nice. This level of customer service is a luxury that (trust me) is not the case in many other countries.
  1. Business Opportunity - Last but not least, a huge privilege for anyone who lives in the US is the opportunity and freedom you have to start your own business. It’s so easy to set up a business in this country - I was able to set up mine, including the corporation, domain, banking, and a website, in just a couple of days, with NO prior knowledge of how to do this. I don't think people understand just how big of a luxury it is to have that opportunity. If you want to learn more about how to start a business in 10 easy steps then click here!
